‘Working Model for Reclining Figure (Lincoln Center)’ 1963–65
This bronze sculpture, owned by Tate, is on long-term loan to Charing Cross Hospital, where it is displayed in the centre of a pond outside the entrance to the building. Patina maintains the sculpture each year by washing away surface soils and algal deposits on the waterline. The sculpture surface is then waxed to protect it from the weather. These annual maintenance sessions are also a chance to check the overall condition of the artwork.
