The sculpture is made using glass reinforced polyester resin which has been painted

The surface is dusted from ladders and surrounding balconies using a combination of various natural hair brushes attached to long poles

This maintenance session also provided an opportunity to retouch some small losses in the paint

Careful cleaning in crevices of the surface using soft hair brushes

'Elevator' 2006
This sculpture is fabricated in glass-reinforced polyester resin and has a realistically painted surface. Originally commissioned for a stairwell at Charing Cross Hospital, it is positioned high on the wall reaching towards a ceiling window. It tends to pick up a lot of dust over time and cannot easily be reached. We undertake annual maintenance to carefully remove dust and soils from the surface to help ensure that the figure remains in good condition.
