Exhibitions for Lazarides Gallery, London
Patina have installed a number of exhibitions for Lazarides Gallery in London. Featured artists have included Johnny Yeo, JR, Conor Harrington, Paul Insect, Miranda Donovan, Faile, Lucy McLauchlan, Ben Turnbull and David Choe.
Many of these shows have involved transforming commercial or industrial spaces to create exciting or unusual surroundings for the display of art, A good example was the ‘Lost in Glimmering Shadows’ exhibition at Lilian Baylis Old School, Lambeth, Nov 2008. Here, works by Faile (artist collective) were exhibited including free standing rotating prayer wheels, circular disc paintings and the white marble sculpture ‘Bunny Boy (2007)’. Patina technicians worked from artists’ plans to transform the school assembly hall by painting four hundred square metres of wall space and blacking out skylights to create a dark backdrop for these bold, graphic works. Our team then stretched the large Faile canvases before installing all artworks in the space.
Similarly, the Paul Insect ‘Poison’ exhibition (Sept 2008) was to be installed within a former bathhouse in Kings Cross. For this, Patina technicians constructed plinths and painted the spaces to display Insect’s painted bronze sculptures ‘Skelli Table (2008)’ and twelve ‘Bunny Girls (2008)’. They also installed a large number of framed paintings and prints.
